Welcome to the Cottage!!! I would like to talk about Sassy Romance today!
I was writing the other night and one of my characters is well...Sassy! She seems to make life seem like it's one big fun-filled party waiting to happen. Bridget was talking to the Heroine (Sam short for Samantha) and told her that her new client was the poster child for tall, dark and hot!! She told her that she would dip the hero in sugar and well...have a sugar-high for days! (LOL) Sassy!!
I love writing characters like her..she is fun, but not to the point she doesn't have a strong side. A more serious side. She is very well rounded and there is a very good possibility that she could be the heroine in another book in a series. I'm not published as of yet, but my dreams are to let other people read my books and it bring a smile to their faces, bring tears to their eyes and let people know that dreams do come true!
I hope you all have a great day! Hope to see you here tomorrow!!

Novels turned into award winning movies!
Good Morning Cottage-goers!!! Hope you all are having a great Thursday! Today I'm going to talk about one of my "daydreams" coming true!
I am sure you all have seen The Notebook by Nicolas Sparks. A Walk to Remember by Nicolas, Star by Danielle Steel, Palamino by Danielle Steel. Not to mention all of Stephen King's novels turned to movies! But can you tell me if you have seen the movie and also read the book? I have on most of these, but I have to be honest with you...I haven't read some of them.
Have you ever noticed the book differs from the movie? I suppose once you sell the book to the production company they have the right to change things..mostly the ending to novels.
What are some of your favorite novels/ turned movie?
BTW...I only had 2 commenters and the lucky winner is Misty for the BAM gift card! CONGRATS to Misty!!
Thanks for stopping by the Cottage and have a Happy Thursday!

To Write or Not to Write...
that is the question. Alright this is going to go along with Barbara's post about being...uh...lazy. I told her to stop doing everything else and just write. That is the key. Write in a notebook about anything. It could be your crappy day and you just need to get it out. Write it down. No one has to see it. This is for you and to get your mind flowing. Pick a picture, a beautiful landscape, movie, book, or anything else you can think of to write about. Then just write for at least ten good minutes. I would say more, but ten can get you started.
Sometimes life just gets us down and we feel stuck or out of sorts. This exercise will help get you out of that funk. Do it everyday before you write your story. You can even use this method for your story. Write about one of your characters, or anything else you can think of in your story. Sometimes this will trigger your problem and put you back on track.
We can't NOT write. The key is to write everyday, even if its just to get your bad day out so you can move on. Tomorrow is a new day with endless possibilities! Now, go write!!!

My New Obseesion
I have a new obsession in my life and his name is Nathan Fillion. Hear me out there? NATHAN FILLION. Know him, love him! Mercy he is HOT!!
He has been on TV in different shows off and on since the 1990s. Remember Buffy? He played a priest in a few episodes. Remember Two Guys, A Girl and a Pizza Place? I don't but apparently he was in that show as well. If I had known he was on it, trust me, I would have watched! Oh! Remember Blast From the Past? He played Cliff, Eve's cocky ex-boyfriend (sadly, he was only on screen for less then a minute).
In 2002 he starred in the short lived sci-fi TV show FIREFLY in which he played Captain Malcolm Reynold of the Firefly ship called Serenity.
He's a space cowboy (LOVE a man who wears a holster!) who crew takes odd jobs (and sometime illegal jobs) and cruise around the galaxy.
Unfortunately, the show only lasted one season (BUMMER!) but luckily the series DVD is packed full of extras!
Now he's back on TV! He plays a New York Times bestselling author, Richard Castle. Rick writes mysteries and on the side, helps (or henders) a NYPD homicide unit. There is also hot, sexual tension between Rick and the lead detective Kate Beckett played by Stana Katic. Rick is the cocky, smart-ass character who lives with his teenage daughter (bless her heart, she has to keep him straight) and his actress mother.Steamy one liners, HOT glances, and on-going tension make this show a hit!
So check CASTLE out every Monday night at 10/9 Central on ABC. Believe me, you will not be disappointed!!
Aslo, check out the new book that goes along with the tv show in stores now!! HEAT WAVE written by His Cockness - RICHARD CASTLE!
Are you a fan already? Let us know what you think!!

Time Management
OK...confession time. I SUCK at time managment...shocker, right? Oh, and did I mention that I have a touch of the lazy bug as well? I have all these thoughts in my head about stories I want to write but when I sit down to type, I look around my house and see all the things that need to be done. It's like I have a mental block on writing. Oh, and even if I did get something down on paper, whose to say it's worth anything. It's so frustrating sometimes. UGH!
Now that I've got that out of the way, I'm going to do a little writing exercise - something that Misty told me to do. She said, "since you're stuck, just write. Write about a picture, movie...anyting."
I picked a picture, so here goes... (scroll down)
The Hurricane Season...
It was raining that night. I had worked a 10 hour shift and all I wanted to do was go home, get in a nice hot bath full of bubbles, read my latest Lori Foster book, then go to bed and dream sweet dreams.
The wind was blowing hard, the hurricane had passed through earlier in the day but we were still feeling the tail end of the winds. The shutters on the house rattled as I walked up the sidewalk. I headed to the front door but fumbled for my keys. The porch light had blown out a month ago but I never replaced it. Damn, procrastination. I knew it was going to bite me in the butt one day and today's the day! I got a big bite mark on my ass. Note to self...replace porch light before the next hurricane.
Luckily I found the key hole, turned the doorknob and pushed my way inside. I dropped my purse and keys at the side table by the door and tried to take of my raincoat without getting the hallway completely wet. As I hung my coat to dry in the laundry room, I noticed an orange glow coming from the back of the house. Since I live alone, I was praying one of the cats hasn't set the house ablaze. The light seemed to be coming from my bedroom.
I slowly made my way down the hall, grabbing my father's baseball bat out of the hall closet in the process. Armed with the wooden bat, I crept towards the light. The wind howling outside was not helping my nerves in the least bit. As I rounded the corner and stepped into the doorway, I saw him...
Now YOU can help my finish! Who is he? Past lover? Future lover? Boss? Mobster?
Story to be continued...

Reading
Good Morning and Welcome to the Cottage!!
Yesterday, my co-writer talked about writing and today I'm going to talk about reading. I love to read..it helps me get outside of everyday stress.
This time of year I find myself reading more and more, maybe it's due to the weather being colder outside and I can't get out and do yard work! (Which is a blessing..somewhat) I love to read and this time of year you can watch the movie based on novels or books by different authors. The books seem to reach me more than the movie, but I have to say that movies made from books are amazing!
I watched the Christmas Shoes the other night along with the sequel the Christmas Blessing and trust me when I say they are both amazing!!
What Holiday book or movie do you enjoy every year?
We would love to hear from you...please stop by and comment and let us know what book and or movie you watch every season!!
Thanks for stopping by the Cottage! Happy Holidays!
